It has been almost 2 years of lockdowns and staying at home. Believe it or not, this situation has affected most of the people physically and mentally. You are not allowed to meet your family who does not live in your house, not even if they live right next to you. There are few things that you can do to keep in touch with your family and friends. Giving gifts, sending over food, buying groceries online and even holding a virtual meeting.
1. Virtual Meeting
Virtual meeting is holding a meeting using applications such as Zoom Meeting, Webex, Google Meet, Google Hangout, Discord or even a normal WhatsApp video call. You will get to communicate and also share stories and experience during the virtual meeting. In Malaysia, we have been practicing virtual celebration for any religious or non-religious celebration. For example, virtual raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Thaipusam and so much more.
Even though it does not feel the same, it is actually good that at least you are still able to chat with your family and friends virtually. There are also so many things you can do during the meeting such as eat together, recite holy books for each religion or even watch movies together.
2. Sending Gifts
If you have extra money, giving gifts will actually help to make someone’s day. Sometimes you don’t have to buy any expensive items to make them happy. A box of chocolate or even a piece of notebook is enough. You know the people, so buy things they like or need during this pandemic. You can send it during birthdays or even on a normal day. It does not matter at all. There are a lot of online sellers who provide gift service for their product.
If your family and friends are expecting a baby or just delivered a baby, you can send baby products so they won’t have to buy it themselves. Malaysia’s best online baby store will be able to deliver any baby products during this time. You don’t have to worry about it anymore.
3. Buy Groceries or Food
During this pandemic and lockdowns, there are a lot of people who got affected financially. If you have anyone you know and is affected, feel free to order good food for them. Not only that, you can also buy them food for normal occasions. You don’t need any reason to make people happy, right?
If your parents or older relatives are not able to move to the grocery stores, there are also a lot of apps like Foodpanda, Grab Mart, Tesco delivery, Happy Fresh and any other grocery stores that provide delivery services. Basic needs such as rice, fish, bread, noodles and flour are the things that you can order and deliver to their houses. Without you knowing it, your simple gesture might be the reason they live another day.
That is basically some of the things that you can do easily to strengthen your relationship with your family and friends during this hard time. Everyone deserves to be happy and do good things.
